Hey All,

Sorry about the long lag between posts, I've been really busy. Many of you follow me on Facebook and Twitter and I've been scarce over there too, jumping in-and-out most days.
Anyway, I think we've finally got the new dance tune where we want it, but a last round of opinions from my musical circle of friends around the world and then we launch. My buddy owns a recording studio here in the Fort Lauderdale area and he did the sound engineering, that's how I did it, got this thing recorded, in case anyone was wondering. Dean gets a split of the proceeds and is wild about the theme and the dance beat, both something everyone will recognize. It's very danceable.
There's a lot to doing a song, like a novel, and it's hard work. The problem, also similar to writing, is the objectivity issues, so, at this point that's why we're field testing it. After several versions and tweaks this tune is catchy and smooth with a heavy drum beat.

Hopefully my book "To Hunt The Hunter" will go well too when I finally get back to it and complete the third revision and look for a good editor.

That's it for now, see you on FB or Twitter. The song should be available for download in a few weeks, the web page will be up and media will be buzzing about it. See you then.

....in the trenches....

Hey ALL,

     Daniel on Twitter

Just a little update on what's going on with me.
The new song is coming out really well and has that hit sound, the kind that gives me goose-bumps when I hear those first few notes. I've written or contributed to 5 or 6  tunes that have been blessed to make it to radio and up the charts in the past and this one sounds like a winner too. I can't say too much yet but when we release you'll understand why. What I can tell you is that we used a themed 600 + year old beat with a catchy, cutting edge dance club sound that we hope will have the whole world dancing. Again, when you hear the lyric and get the drift of what it's all about this will make sense. Hopefully you will support the song and help spread the word so we can get a few downloads. It'll be available on a lot of sites and part of the proceeds will go to a couple of anti-human trafficking groups I know to be making a difference in this world. The main goal will be to get the world dancing, no borders, no barriers, no conflict - just dance.
More soon and Please, if you are in media or radio, contact me on Twitter of FB and let me know what I might be able to do for you too. My platform is very large and has a good reach and I've helped put a lot of people on the map, so maybe I can promo something that is near and dear to your heart also, in return. Those of us who are who understand networking well know that we ALL need help from each other.

....the sunburn files...

Hey,
I'm here in the background somewhere and I wanted to say hi.
The new song is close to completion and we're excited because it has that hit chill factor, but more on the whole deal and the reason for all secrecy, later. The book is coming along, however I find myself at a cross-roads of sorts. My skill level is far below my visibility level and though from a marketing perspective my scene is a dream I am still a WIP myself, not just the book. A good crit group and a beta-reader have expressed really positive feedback on my little thriller, but as I plow through edit #3 I see what they are talking about. Great story, loveable, cool characters but technical weaknesses in structure and POV.
SO, I'm working on all the problems, although sometimes I feel like I'm digging a hole with a rake.
OH, to have the benefit of education.....how stupid of me to NOT go when I had the money....
I appreciate the folks who have reached out to me and I agonize over the fact that, even in publishing and in the community of writers, it's still "pay-to-play" and people can only do so much for you....

Alright, that's the latest, I'm in No-man's-land, in a sense and trying to figure out how to suffer this sun-burn as I crawl across the desert of life....
I'll let you know when the song comes out, hopefully you'll download a version. Some of the proceeds are going to an anti-human trafficking group.

Update: Editing progress on my book..

Time flies when you're editing, groping your way along. The difference between draft 2 and draft 3 is huge, since the first 100 pages were originally written over a year ago. Thankfully, I've learned a lot since then and my writing has greatly improved and the book is taking shape.
I read a lot, mostly new release thriller fiction, bestseller list - hardcover - and the contrast with what I'm reading from the big players to my own work is still there but the smoke is clearing quickly. What a great feeling to see the endless hours and days of effort paying off. I can't talk about any details yet, but, I've been approached by a few big hitters in publishing and book-to-film rep fields recently and much to my amazement there is interest, serious interest, in "To Hunt The Hunter", my first novel.
As you can imagine, I'm frantic and focused behind the scenes trying to up my game as a writer.

I just wanted to update everyone and let you know why the blog hasn't been posted on lately. Between networking and trying to edit my own work, and there's always the very serious drama playing out here on the homefront, blogging hasn't been on my list of to-do's for a few weeks. I'll see you on Twitter and FB and Goodreads!

Okay, so.....revision #2 almost complete...

Been awhile, so I wanted to jump in here and let you's know that I'm workin' it here in the background. It's a lot, to go through a full length novel several times, and it's amazing how much stuff I see to correct. I'm rewriting a few scenes and changing paragraph structures and breaks, correcting typos, yadda yadda. If I knew what I was doing it might help, but, in spite of my new-ness I think I really do have something here with this book.
Okay, so.....I'm here in the background revising and rewriting....

120,801 words and now the work begins...

Before I head to the beach today I wanted to express my exhausted joy at finishing the 1st draft of my first thriller action adventure novel. It seems a long time since I began this thing and along the way I realized other things that every writer needs to think about.
Rewrites, of course, and a reader group and an editor and cover art. Plus the ebook formatting thing.
Hopefully I will soon be able to announce that I have all, if not most of these critical elements in the bag or at least in the works but for this moment, today, I'm just happy to be able to say I finished the first draft.
So, after working and reworking the ending a few times and a long haul struggle to focus my time and energy on this wonderfully challenging craft I'm taking a couple of days to settle my little brain.

Lost in space(s)

Hey kids,
This will be a short post today. As I mentioned sometime back I'm trying to finish the first draft of my soon-to-be bestseller "To Hunt The Hunter" and I'm working at redoing the ending. I decided to switch roles between two of the bad guys and had to go back and change stuff from the first few chap's and all the way to near the end. I'll look out for more stuff I missed on my edits and rewrites.
Imagination plays such a big part in crafting scenes that have high action in them and I'm thinking I have more of that than I do major skill level but my burning desire to be able to translate thought like the heavy hitters do,this is what keeps me going and fearless about writing.
I read a lot and to me, and, for me, there is a very clear line between weak writing and the kind that sells millions of books. I'm not bashing anyone, as I've said I would never discourage anyone, ever, from writing but my point is that, even though I learn from both, it's abundantly clear to me that the top authors have a mastery of this craft, and that plus a good imagination is what makes for a good read. I notice also undercurrents in some authors writing. By that I mean I see and hear and feel the author directly speaking to me, the reader. Some authors do it better than others and I love that sense and feeling of riding along, kind of co-piloting with the characters and not even realizing I'm doing it.
We all have goals. I have a few and one of them is to learn how to write like the great thriller action adventure writers of our day and another one is to go 225 miles per hour on a motorcycle or, choice B. would be a long distance balloon ride, one with a bathroom on board.....
Anyway, I said this one would be short so I'll close it here.
Thanks everyone for all your support here and on the various sites I'm on and post to.
